About The Altai Foundation

The Altai Foundation was founded by Slava Trigubovich, an anti-poaching ranger who had previously headed the Siberian Interregional Center Zapovedniki (SICZ) and Vladislav Shilo, the internationally renowned Director of the Novosibirsk Zoo. Their vision was to create an organization that contributes in concrete ways to greater balance between people and nature. The goals of the Altai Foundation are (1) Support of actions directed toward developing and strengthening the specially protected nature reserves of the Altai Republic and other regions of Russia; (2) Restoration and preservation of the natural and cultural heritage of the Altai Republic; and (3) Promotion of a more protecting and respectful attitude toward the natural environment.

 

Priority Activities are:

· Rendering assistance to the zapovedniks and other protected areas of the Altai and all of Russia;

· Competitive funding of programs and projects directed for the study and preservation of wild nature, rare and endangered animals and plants of Russia;

· Promotion of a more balanced ecological outlook and actions, resulting in more active engagement of wide segments of the population in nature protection;

· Formation of a Capital Fund for financing target projects;

· Provision of consulting, educational and information services on problems in zapovedniks and protected areas;

· Development of professional partnerships and cooperation in the field of wildlife management with Russian and international organizations

Board of Directors

 

The Altai Foundation has created a western-style Board of Directors whose current members include:

 

             The two founders: Slava Trigubovich and Vladislav Shilo

             Oksana Belous, advertising executive and Treasurer

             Nataliya Troitskaya, conservation writer and activist

             Vladislav Mekle, businessman and entrepreneur

 

Slava Trigubovich is the current President of the Altai Foundation.
